Out of print
If the book you would like to order
turns out to be out of print (we can check first if another edition is
available), no problem!
OffTheShelf provides a service to track
down and order second hand copies of books from around the
world. We have access to a large number of specialised second hand
booksellers in the UK, USA, Australia, across Europe and even as far
afield as India. Many of them are well known to us, as we use their
services on a regular basis, so we know we can trust them to supply
books in good condition.
The out of print service is offered to
our customers at no extra charge!
How it works:
Once you give us the details of the
book, and a rough guideline for your budget, we will set to work
comparing the second hand copies available to see which would be the
most economical and in the best condition. We'll then let you know what
we've found and if you decide to confirm the order we can discuss
methods of pre-payment. As simple as that!
Delivery times:
Out of print book orders normally take
between 3 and 4 weeks to come in, depending where
the book is being sent from. Although we can make a search and
comparison very quickly, we cannot accelerate the actual order process,
as many of the suppliers we deal with are small and most do not use DHL
or similar shipment methods. For this reason, we don't recommend you
place an out of print order with us if you need the book very quickly;
we will ask you to pre-pay the order and will not be able to refund
this in the event of a cancellation.
How to order:
There are various methods
of placing orders with us, and any of these are acceptable for out
of print book orders. We will contact you an individual basis to
discuss ways in which the pre-payment can be made.

Our out of
print service is not a "buy and sell" scheme such as you might find in
second hand bookshops. That means you won't find second hand books in
our shop - our service is tailor-made and we obtain books to order. If
you would like to pick up a bargain, you can try Les Recyclables (rue
de Carouge), Le Point du jour (Rond-Point de Plainpalais) or the Flea
Market at Plainpalais every Wednesday and Saturday.
