François Begaudeau’s novel “Entre les murs”, a fictionalized account of his experiences teaching rowdy African kids at a school outside Paris, is to be published in English in April as “The Class”. The film version won the Palme d’Or at the 2008 Cannes festival.

Jhumpa Lahiri is one of the finalists for the 5th annual Story Prize for outstanding short fiction, to be announced on 4th March. She has been nominated for Unaccustomed Earth.
First-time novelist Philipp Meyer has scored a top endorsement for his soon-to-be-published American Rust from crime writer Patricia Cornwell. In her latest novel, Scarpetta, one of the detectives is reading Meyer's book. Cornwell was so impressed by it that she decided to include a reference to it.
